Oh, it looks like this has been answered 16 years ago!

I knew migrating the forums would pay off one day.

You probably patched the game before. There is a key in the registry where the version information is stored:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREParticle SystemsEdge of ChaosSettings]

The key is “Version”. I don’t know what number it needs to be set to, though. If I find the time, I can install my old F12 CD version.
First, Atari owns the copyrights to the game… I believe several people have attempted to contact them regarding I-War 2, and never got a response.
This is especially sad, because Stephen Robertson was willing to give me the DX8 patch if Atari was okay with it.

    Atari didn’t care, though.

I really wanted to see the improved graphics on the planets. 🙁

    BTW: Merry Christmas, everyone! :silly:
@schmatzler: Maybe it’s worth it to add this workaround to the FAQ to make sure no one playing this game will get stuck on it. I’d write a paragraph you could add, if you’re interested.
Hello,
sorry for the late reply. Damn real life. 😛

I will add a paragraph to the FAQ, if you write something up. 😉

    Yes they did!

I am very happy about that. The Expanse is enough of a reason for me to get a Prime subscription.

The Expanse has been canceled yesterday by SyFy.
At least there are eight episodes left to enjoy, but damn. I REALLY hate this station.

They call themselves a Science Fiction channel and yet they cancel everything that’s in this genre. First Dark Matter and now this.
    SyFy doesn’t deserve this genre.

I doubt Netflix will pick it up.

Not ideal, but if you swap out the ATI Rage with a 3Dfx Voodoo, you can run Defiance with hardware acceleration and even with blurry stars! <3

    And a TNT2 M64 could help you getting I-War 2 to run.

I-War 2 even works on an S3 Savage with 8MB of VRAM. Granted, only at 640×480, but it is playable at that resolution! 🙂

I am impressed that they made it so backwards compatible. But if I recall correctly, Stephen Robertson has said on GOG that the developers didn’t have very great machines either and were mostly working at a maximum of 800×600.

What are your specs? As long as you’re not powering an ATI Rage and a Pentium 1, you should be good to go! 😛
