    I figured out how to run a dedicated server.

    It’s as simple as running “loader.exe -ac iwar2.icServerApp”.

    The problem is, it only seems to listen locally. I can connect to it if I’m in the same network on LAN, but I can’t connect to it from a different IP. 🙁

    If I get this working, we could have a 24/7 multiplayer server.

    Edit:
    I found more command line arguments that aren’t really documented. When I start a Multiplayer game from the game itself, it spawns this:

    loader.exe -ac iwar2.icServerApp -sp dm -sn Templar's Lair -stl 600 -sfl 10 -sm ini:/multiplayer/maps/piracy -aib

    I guess:

    ac = Application Code, i.e. Server or Singleplayer
    sp = Gameplay Type
    sn = Server Name
    stl = Time Limit
    sfl = Not sure. Maybe the Score Limit?
    sm = Server Map

    Opening iwar2.dll with a hex editor reveals even more stuff:

    server_query_port…sqp
    ai_count….aic
    ai_skill….ais
    ai_bots.aib
    arcade_mode.am
    console.c
    server_player_limit.spl
    server_frag_limit…sfl
    server_time_limit…stl
    server_name.sn
    server_map..sm
    server_package..sp

    I just noticed, that the Epic Online Mod is gone. It was never hosted here.

    Epic Online is a mod where you can trade and fight online and can use your traded stuff in SinglePlayer. Originally here. If you have it, please share!

    Thank you, that’s it 🙂

    I thought about the Torn Stars forum a bit more – a better idea would be to create a “Mods” subforum where we can talk about mods and put the Torn Stars threads in there. The “Developer” and “Suggested Features” forums could be set read-only then.

    If no one hates me for this, I will reorganize it soon.

    I’ve decided to make the hidden development forum public, where the Star Wars Mod was heavily discussed:

    http://www.i-war2.com/forum/sw-development-(hidden)

    It’s read-only and will probably be merged into a different category when I revise the forum structure soon.

    I just took a quick look if there is no private information in there, which shouldn’t be public. Couldn’t find anything.

    I’m finished with implementing the fonts and some of the GUI elements I found in the Online Beta of I-War 2 into the website design.

    I thought about using the fonts more often, but they are really hard to read. In the game they created a second font which is basically just the first one but extremely wide to be readable again. 😛

    So I’m using the I-War font very subtle. Just in the menu and in headings. I think it’s a nice touch and every player will recognize it instantly.

    When they’re already in the two demos listed here, there’s no need to uploaded them again.

    Your post made me install these two again and I discovered an amazing thing! The Online Beta contains a little bit of development material.

    There are instructions on how to create the bright fonts from the game in Photoshop and there are even the source .psd files for the GUI of the game in there! That is awesome. It looks like when they put the Beta out they forgot to remove the source files. These things are missing in the CD demo that came later.

    This means I may be able to give this website a little more I-War touch 😉

    Now this one’s a little different – a while ago, the guys on the YouTube channel Funhaus played a game called:

    Yandere Simulator

    I don’t know why, but it’s just fun. You play a little girl, you go to school, you like your Senpai and…you kill all of the others. Don’t get caught by the police and make sure to remove all traces! 👿

    The game obviously isn’t finished yet. You can only enter one room at school, walk through walls etc. but I like it even in this state.

    Now the website just says “Singleplayer and Multiplayer”, so it will be there, I guess.

    I couldn’t agree more, Singleplayer still is very important to me. The only games I play in Multiplayer from time to time are No One Lives Forever, UT2004 and a Half-Life mod called “The Specialists”.

    It’s easier to fight an AI than real people. And the AI mostly doesn’t cheat like some of the little bastards out there 😀
