ParticipantYeah I noticed that goggame.dll in the Steam install. I was wondering why that was in there lol
The most difficult part for me to get IW2 running again was trying to find any old random .iso to mount so it would get past the ‘insert game disc’ warning. I haven’t used an .iso in over ten years! ≽ܫ≼

Participant[quote=”schmatzler post=20925 userid=2050″]I have asked GOG about including this patch as well as the NoCD patch in their digital release of the game. Fingers crossed!
If that’s successful I might attempt to also contact Atari about the Steam release of the game. Last time I tried to contact them I was just met with silence, so I’m not holding a lot of hope. But we’ll see.

It would probably be enough if there was a sticky post in the I-War forums at GoG with links to the patches. Funnily enough, they still have a sticky post there stating i-war2.com is closing in 2015. Ha!I suppose GoG could include the fixes with the installer and some instructions on how to enable it. Atari probably doesn’t care about this game though after so long.

ParticipantIt’s pretty crazy what a bunch of old fogies can do when they are just sitting around mulling over twenty year old code bugs ≽ܫ≼

ParticipantI had the same problem with bugs while trying to complete I-War2 myself. Took me over 15 years to finally get back around to fully completing the game. There might have a been some work arounds for the bugs I found online that helped me get through the game.

ParticipantElite Dangerous is a very open world online game. It does have some I-War feel to it, but there’s not a concise story at all to play through; at least, I never got around to playing through any sort of story missions as I already knew I didn’t want to grind through Elite Dangerous’ sort of online play to advance my character.
That being said – I do love how ED plays! I wish the developers of ED had a more singleplayer, offline experience to offer. But yes, ED isn’t quite like I-War 2, the true classic!
Also: Christ loves you man. And I love you too! 🙂

ParticipantYeah I was thinking about loading it up again just to take a look once more. I have an old savegame archived with a ton of money and goodies and the game pretty much beat.
