ParticipantI have also been using Unity. My current project is building a prototype model of an alien ship I designed for my idea of an I-War 3 with Blender.
I am trying to rebuild Edge Of Chaos in the Unity 3d engine pixel for pixel.
So all of the dimensions are exact. I have been wondering how to do this, and I would like some advice. What astounds me about Duncan Day’s paper models is how accurate they are. I would consider designing my own models (Storm Petrel!) if I knew how to get the dimensions of each face right.
I am more of an artist then a coder, my cousin and google help me with the c# but for the most part I am doing everything myself.
I am a coder! Javascript. Also, the Unity environment is much different from the environment I am used to. I need to watch more Unity tutorials and get this figured out.

ParticipantYour Storm Petrel sounds much more tactical, just the way a company would have designed it. For a single player mission or game, it would be necessary to use a different, more capable ship. In a fleet, however, the Storm Petrel would be an essential strategic tool. For example, if their was an Independence War Fleet Commander game, the Storm Petrel would be use to fight small ships, Corvettes would take middle sized ships, and Capital ships would attack other Capital ships and stations. Tugs would be used primarily for transport of gunstars, but probably more often as an inferior but useful fighting force.

ParticipantThe Qstorm was a practice project for the person who made it. In the same way, I made the “Rusty” mod, but I didn’t add a hardpoint. This is for two reasons. First, I don’t know how. Second, I didn’t want the mod to affect gameplay in any way. However, earlier in this topic I discussed removing a hardpoint, lowering the hull points, and putting it up for sale (for a cheap price) in Torn Stars.

One of the old devs in the GOG forum said, that the Storm Petrel was way too powerful and that may have been one of the reasons why they ditched it.
That is a very interesting point. They give a powerful ship before you know how to use it, and then take it away so that as you get better, the game can still be challenging, adding to the steep learning curve. It is strange, though, that they leave you in the Tug for half of the game. If I were Cal, I would sell the Tug and buy a Storm Petrel. After all of this, I must once again congratulate Cambrogal and Torn Stars. That mod gives you this freedom.

ParticipantI created a topic called Storm Petrel to move the discussion about the Storm Petrel to. See my post in “Chessking’s stuff” for my thoughts about the soundtrack.

ParticipantI love the I-War 2 soundtrack. Sometimes I listen to it all day as I do school. My favorite song ever is Them A1. Christopher Mann did an excellent job. Even my sister likes it.

ParticipantThe problem is drawing so many individual points. At max, I would require 422,500 individual points to be drawn if I were to generate backgrounds with noise. Apparently other applications use noise differently, because I hear that noise can handle jobs like this with less memory usage than if an image were used. Anyways, I think I will have to go with some boring, plain colored planets.

ParticipantWhen I first completed act 0, I thought I was going to chase after Maas and get my Storm Petrel back. Apparently not. Anyways, my goal for becoming a “professional Storm Petrel pilot” is to destroy a Nova Cruiser in Instant Action. I think I’ve done it before, primarily through system damage, but I have not recently.
