ParticipantOk, thanks for clarifying. I thought you would do something like that.
I haven’t heard of magic rabbits before. I might learn something useful by researching it.

ParticipantAwesome!
The only problem I see is that when a section of the texture is turned invisible (indicating a hole) the player would probably be able to see through the ship, since the insides aren’t rendered. You would need something to cover up the hole.

ParticipantI have played the older Elite and games and the newer-ish Oolite. Good games needless to say, but gameplay doesn’t quite scratch that itch properly. Like a back itch that you can reach, but your fingernails are too dull to REALLY do the trick.
I have played the old MechWarrior games, and I enjoyed them. But the graphics of MechWarrior 4 made it fun in a different, more professional way.
Hmmm…
EOC is definitely not the game for you. Many of the proposals for an I-War 3 have included such ideas, but right now such things have not been implemented. The closest thing I can think of is Limit Theory, which isn’t done yet. Also, Limit Theory will not have explorable ships, stations, etc.
I take it you’re not the willing game dev you mentioned. I have had some interest in creating a space game, but with other games on the market that have almost everything you could ask for, I changed my mind.

ParticipantThe Gravedigger is not dangerous, except that it is two jumps from a level ten Nova class Heavy Cruiser piloted by Gowron. You should jump back through Firefrost and on to St. Elmo (or Corinthia if you want to attack that League fellow).

ParticipantI totally relate with you about the open world experience, and especially the combat oriented deal that many games (including vanilla EOC) has. I think that without Torn Stars, EOC would not be as good of a game.
By the way, have you played the original Elite games? I know they’re old, but they are free and do a good job with having multiple career paths.

ParticipantI was destroyed, since I was not powered down, and am now with the Navy faction. I suggest heading my way and stay away from Gowron. Also, there appears to be a new pilot with the League that we could attack (we can’t make an alliance since the only in-game communications with enemies are the taunts). Also, we should use piracy to promote our ships. Gowron will need to be defeated to prevent him from destroying everyone else’s bases.

ParticipantI haven’t really gotten into Torn Stars, but this is additional cause for me to start. For now, I suggest starting the regular campaign, and try mods later. Also, you could try EricMan64’s mod, Gold Rush. It has considerably fewer problems, and gives a unique play experience.
P.S. I-War 2 is known on these forums for having many issues, but all of the problems encountered in the campaign have fixes or workarounds.
