    Yes, I think that’s simply done by just copying the file over. 😉

    But I won’t add it here, since this would make the server unuseable for the retail version.

    I’ll tinker with adding a second server, hopefully this will be possible.

    The problem is the time difference. When you’re here, I’m almost asleep and probably shouldn’t be up anymore 😀

    The bot difficulty can be changed in flux.ini – they are a bit too hard for my taste, I might adjust that.

    FLUX: [unknown] ** Stats for player “MP_NAME_RichardSkinner”
    FLUX: [unknown] kills 0
    FLUX: [unknown] shots 350
    FLUX: [unknown] missiles 16
    FLUX: [unknown] shots on target 0
    FLUX: [unknown] missiles on target 4

    So many shots and no kills? Damn, you’re getting old 😆

    You’re right, I totally forgot to look into the resource.zip file! :woohoo:

    I wonder what’s the difference between .ini maps and .map maps – just the file format? In the beta, they added the map like this:

    system = map:/geog/multiplayer/carls_world

    Maybe I can add the maps from the geog directory to the dedicated server here, let’s see…

    Edit: Well, it doesn’t load that map directly like it did in the Beta. But I see that the map is defined in the file for the “Bomb Tag” gametype as default. 🙂 Maybe I’ll just have to cycle through gametypes to get to that map.

    Edit #2: Nope. “Cal’s World” is just broken and can’t be loaded. Damn, it’s a fun map in the Beta.

    [quote=”RichardSkinner” post=19605]its a cycle, we are emerging from the zombie era (finally) into the comic book one.[/quote]

    I’m not so sure. The gaming industry still puts out zombie games every week. Granted, most of them are shit, but they are still being done.
    And amc is just filming a second show that will run alongside “The Walking Dead”.

    I’m fed over by the zombie theme, too – but it’s not over yet 😀

    I rarely go to the movies, too. Just because going to the movies has become so expensive here in Germany. We have to pay 10 bucks or more, just to sit in a room with strangers that can’t behave. And then, if you’re hungry or thirsty, that’s at least another 5 bucks – for each person.

    And it seems like I’m not the only one. The blockbusters are still full, but every other movie is very rarely visited here. I think Marvel realized that, too – and took the jump on the Netflix wagon 😉

    There’s a new Bladerunner coming? WOOT? :woohoo:

    While cleaning up the forum I stumbled over this thread.

    I’m playing Independence War 2 on Linux all the time. It almost works out of the box with wine, but there is a nasty bug which freezes the game when someone talks.

    But no worries – there are instructions on how to get around that:

    https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=7386

    The “European Windows XP” bug happens on Linux, too – if you come from Europe and want to play Multiplayer, you have to tell Linux that your thousands delimiter is a “.” by putting this in front of the application you want to run:

    LC_ALL="c"

    I’m happy that it runs so well – no need to keep old Windows versions around or hoping for Microsoft not breaking anything in their next release. 👿 :whistle:

    Woah nice – SideWinder guy here, too 😉 I own the Force Feedback Pro.

    That’s the one with the big motors that need an extra power supply and light sensors inside that should never wear out. (Microsoft replaced them in later models when they realized they couldn’t sell new Joysticks if they never break 😀 ).

    Works fine on any OS I have (Win XP, 7 or Linux), although I need Windows XP for Force Feedback support.

    I’m playing I-War on a Quad here with 4GB RAM. Back in the days on my old P3 with a NVidia TNT2 this game surely made the machine get hot 😀

    Yes, that’s the only explanation! 😀

    You’re a tough match. Are you playing with a Joystick or plain mouse + keyboard? 😉

    And it crashed again – damn!

    I’ve put together a little restart script, now it should come back automatically after 20-30s. If anyone’s interested, that’s the script:

    #!/bin/bash
    # if online is NULL, it's down. May change maps, so wait and check again:
    if [ -z "$(curl -sSf http://hirnschwund.net/?s=13 | grep "ONLINE")"]; then
    echo "I-War is offline"
    sleep 20
    fi
    if [ -z "$(curl -sSf http://hirnschwund.net/?s=13 | grep "ONLINE")"]; then
    echo "I-War still offline, killing all processes"
    pkill -SIGKILL -f "Xvfb :1" && pkill -SIGKILL -f "loader.exe" && pkill -SIGKILL -f "dpnsvr.exe"
    sleep 2
    echo "Starting server"
    Xvfb :1&
    export DISPLAY=:1
    cd .wine/drive_c/GOG Games/Independence War 2/ &&
    LC_ALL="c" nohup wine ./bin/release/loader.exe -ac iwar2.icServerApp -sp dm -sn "i-war2 GOG" -stl 900 -sfl 10 -aic 2 > /dev/null 2>&1 &
    else
    echo "I-War running, leave."
