So… The ability to change the difficulty was added into the game but never used? When you finish the mod, I will never uninstall it! How am I supposed to train to be a professional storm petrel pilot when my enemies are fighting at less than their best? I have been able to defeat a Nova class cruiser in a storm petrel, and can pirate megatransporters with it, but that could change.

I don’t have the programs required to open the high-res version, but I just realized that the original images could make a very interesting screensaver… a screensaver outlining all the technical aspects of my favorite spaceship.

Are you getting the I-War itch IronDuke? Summer is coming, and summer reminds me of I-War 2. I will probably find myself in an intense Instant Action match pretty soon.

It’s cool to see you here! I don’t really have an interest in printing them, I look forward to building a meter long paper model someday. If other people on the forum are more into wall posters than I am, they may be useful.

Had I been aware of how cheap the game is on GOG (even when not on sale), I probably would have bought it there. Instead, I found it on Amazon for 99 cents, but with about four dollars for shipping. It was advertised as Defiance, but only had two disks. (As I said, I didn’t know there were supposed to be four disks. I didn’t even notice I was missing the defiance campaign for several months after buying it.) It doesn’t have the giant box and comes in a plain CD case, but even the print on the CDs makes them worth it. Besides, I accidentally deleted my operating system while trying to dual-boot Windows 10 a few weeks ago, and if I had downloaded the game, I might have lost it.

I have EOC though. I have I-War 1 too, but I didn’t realize their were supposed to be four disks…

I have been waiting for a sale on GOG so that I might get Defiance. Also, since my disk drive on my laptop stopped working, I could still play it because it is a download. That’s cool though that it is easy to get EOC for a ridiculously cheap price. It should make it easier to keep things alive.

I remember getting the loader.exe error. I think it was when I was trying to run some mod, but I can’t remember all of the details right now.

Or maybe it was fixed by running in compatibility mode?

    Sorry, I don’t have Windows 10 either.

I think I have a different version than youdo. I have a version of Torn Stars: Unstable Space Beta. In this version, the “how to get started guide” is outdated, and leads me to believe you have a different version. In my version, you have a selection of scenarios that are each rather similar; you start in either the Yellowstone truck or the Anderson SNRV. The nearby station for one of these starting points has a Yellowstone truck, a Storm Petrel, and a Spider Tug for sale.

I would like to know precisely where you got your version (.exe or .zip?). In the meantime, I will try the .exe version of Torn Stars on this website: http://www.i-war2.com/downloads/download/49-torn-stars-core-downloads/317-torn_stars_8_0

I was looking at joysticks a while back, and there are a some with a bunch of buttons on the side. With one of those, you could probably skip the keyboard altogether, without using the HUD. However, I think this is a bit unrealistic, since most vehicles with a joystick would also have a lot of switches and gauges also. I am quite pleased with my joystick, simple as it may be. It is the Saitek Cyborg Graphite. Regarding quality, it is fairly good. On mine, the speed lever is loose and doesn’t stay zeroed, allthough there may be a setting to adjust the dead-zone. In addition, I broke the trigger recently,( 🙁 ) when I finally took down a Nova cruiser in a Storm Petrel. ( 🙂 ). The thing kept moving, and I would have to keep up, firing in the same place to overwhelm the LDAs. However, I should be able to glue it back on using a super-strong superglue.

I think the highest quality joystick you could get is the one Schmatzler has. He said before that he bought it before the companies realized they could make more money if they made cheap joysticksthat break easily, so you would probably have a hard time finding one. 🙂

Seems like the Steam controller is some kind of alien device that no one really understands…

Ever heard of SteamOS? I just looked it up, and it says it is a linux based operating system. Perhaps that is why Windows doesn’t recognize it.

Some more info that I found about the Steam controller is below; Linux was mentioned here as well.
