Yes, I know that I can run C4D through VirtualBox, but the performance isn’t all that great if it’s virtualized.

The program itself runs fine, but there are graphical glitches that may be caused by a recent update in Linux. I don’t want to track that down, so that’s a perfect opportunity for learning Blender. 🙂 It will just take a lot of time, I guess.

Right, I didn’t even think about that. Someone on the GOG forums had the same problem and solved it by running the game as admin.

If you have no sound and you cannot save, it almost sounds like a permission issue for me.

Newer windows versions have the so called DEP (Data Execution Prevention) which interferes with the game. It could also be that your antivirus is blocking access to some things needed by the game.

    I would try either:

    -Disabling the DEP
-or adding bin/release/loader.exe in the game folder to the DEP exception list: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Change-Data-Execution-Prevention-settings?SignedIn=1

If that doesn’t work, try disabling your antivirus and then starting the game.

I know others reported in the past that they couldn’t save but no one really found a solution for this yet. There has to be a way, though.

Now I have the definitive solution – instead of just converting ALL of the tris to quads (which creates too much garbage and makes some of the edges strangely intersect with each other) I just select the biggest part of the surface and convert that to quads.

See the attached picture and the smooth render result. 🙂

I’m now doing it a bit differently. I am selecting the edges with ALT+Shift+LMB and then bevel them with CTRL+B so they don’t go crazy when I smooth the thing out 🙂

I know that the thruster area is very complicated, but I think I can select the whole thruster “opening” and make it hard with W + Shade Flat. That is still some work to do, but it should work.

We don’t have a PS3 controller profile yet, unfortunately 🙁

You would have to use one of our Keybinder programs to edit the default.ini to work with this controller. You can find them here:

The controller profiles are in the “configs” folder inside the game folder.

For the Steam version this is probably something like C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Edge of Chaos/configs

You can download an Xbox360 profile from our download section and put that .ini file into this folder. Select it ingame and it should work.

I didn’t even need that many steps to run the game.

My latest test results are here:

    https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=7386

I only needed to install and patch the game, run:

    winetricks quartz directplay

and then disable winegstreamer in winecfg.

Afterwards, it worked fine. But I’m on a European system and that corrupts the flux.ini sometimes, so I had to do the LC_ALL fix, too. Maybe that affects Torn Stars, too?
