EOC is almost ALWAYS on sale on Steam – I even missed updating the frontpage because it was on sale again a few weeks ago.
The sales seem to work, though. Although only in small numbers. But you can see a peak in February:

adminKeymasterGood to know. 🙂 I’ll put that into the Tech FAQ.

adminKeymasterDoes the flux.log tell you it’s using the NVidia driver after my posted solutions?
Because if it still crashes with the Nvidia card, it’s not a GPU problem. I-War 2 really doesn’t like Intel.
Other things I can think about:
– an Antivirus blocks the game files
– the DEP of Windows blocks itTry disabling your antivirus (or putting the I-War folder into its exception list) and disabling the DEP.
I never really tested I-War 2 on Windows 10, only Win8. Maybe others did and will join us here soon 🙂

adminKeymasterI’ve now played through “Vampire – The Masquerade: Bloodlines”.
Two times.
I’m 60 hours in and there’s still no end to it. I think I can choose between 8 different races of vampires, all with their own unique abilities and dialogue choices.
The game has an excellent soundtrack by Rik Schaffer (who released 12 new ones last year which were put into the unofficial patch) and I’m really wondering why Vampires stopped being cool.
I know it’s totally different from my usual games, but it’s the best I’ve ever played, I think. Sorry, I-War.

adminKeymasterNow it does 🙂
Well, the game tries to use the integrated GPU of your processor:
Intel(R) HD Graphics 530
I-War 2 and Intel graphics can be a bit messy. Maybe you can disable the Intel GPU in the device manager of Windows.
Or if you’re lucky you can set the preferred graphics card in the NVIDIA settings:

adminKeymasterCan be a hundred reasons. First make sure you have the latest graphics drivers.
If you have there is a flux.log file in the game folder. Post the contents here, maybe we can see what’s going wrong.

adminKeymasterWow, that looks very cool!
Sadly, I don’t have the hardware to play this at the moment. But the trailer looks nice:

adminKeymasterI received a very friendly reply from Stephen Robertson:
Hi Ronny,
Thanks for the kind words and many many thanks for keeping the I-War community alive!
I did offer the I-War directX8 patch to GOG, but they didn’t want it at the time. I supplied them nearly all of their supplemental materials though, including high quality versions of the soundtrack which they were very pleased to receive.
I’m happy to give the patch to GOG if they want it but reluctant to just release it to the community as I do not own the rights.
If GOG/Atari say it’s ok to distribute then I’d be happy to give it out.
However last time I tried the patch (some time ago) it didn’t render all the DirectX8 effects correctly. Now that Nvidia has fixed some of the I-War 2 rendering issues maybe it’ll work, but there’s a chance it won’t work properly on modern hardware.
Best regards,
— Steve
I will contact GOG again and ask them if they want the patch now, so maybe we can get it released with the game.
If they don’t want that, maybe Atari will be friendly to us? 🙂 We’ll see.
