The thing is that since Edward Snowden, we know that government agencies (as in secret services) can pressure American companies to do almost anything. I am not willing to take that risk. Granted, there is no guarantee that companies in the EU can’t be bullied the same way by the secret services in their own countries, but the laws allow for much more protection from the government.

I have my eyes on a distro that is being developed in the EU and seems to have no ties to American companies (which is the case with once-German SUSE, for example).

The German computer magazine c’t quite recently had an article that compared the various distros. Since I don’t trust American companies for obvious reasons, I’ll limit myself to a European one. And that doesn’t leave many.

I predict that there will be an arm’s race between Micro$oft and spykiller developers. Not sure who’ll win. And since I value my privacy too much, I won’t touch Win10. That being said, as soon as I have the time, I’ll start looking for a cheap copy of Win8.1. It’ll be supported for quite some time and is the last “classic” OS from MS. Then again, maybe it’s time I start looking hard at Linux and its myriad of distributions… ^^

Can you attach the video file to your post as well, just like the one before? I’m having trouble with FB too.

Thank you. My last Soundblaster with a gameport is a Soundblaster Live! PCI card (which I still have), which I switched for a Asus Xonar. Unfortunately, Creative doesn’t offer drivers for the SB live! for OSes higher than WinXP, so I had to switch the card and also switch my trusty old Logitech Wingman Extreme for a Thrustmaster Flightstick X (mentioned above).

In the end, I’m glad I did, because the Asus card offers better sound options, and the Thrustmaster joystick offers not only a throttle control but also has a rotating handle.

Have you ever heard of Firefly Online (https://keepflying.com/)? I was quite looking forward to this game, however, since August the website stopped being updated. Not sure what this means. :-/

I’m currently watching the Let’s Play with German YouTuber Gronkh. It’s not a game I’d ever play (although I do own Amnesia and Outlast), but watching someone else have heart attacks is kind of funny. 😉

I can only echo what Chessking said about Limit Theory. The game is still in development and was on hold for about half a year (due to the dev’s personal issues), but if you like, you can have a look at LT’s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/LimitTheory/videos

The game is gorgeous, so say the least, and since *everything* there is procedurally generated (except sounds and music), the game’s environments are not only varied, but the game is also very small (at the time of the last update it was around 170 MB, IIRC).

Anyway, in LT’s forums (http://forums.ltheory.com/index.php) you can find much more information, especially if you look for Josh Parnell’s posts. Also, in case you are interested, here is the original Kickstarter for LT: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/joshparnell/limit-theory-an-infinite-procedural-space-game
