Hi guys, I recently bought Independence War 2 from GOG.com. While I have spent literally hundreds of hours in I-War and Defiance, I had missed the game when it was released, mainly because it looked and felt different and there weren’t any Let’s Play videos like you find now on YouTube.
Anyway, while browsing the Internet for mods, I found your site. Here, a link for a movie called Nolan’s Intro (http://www.i-war2.com/downloads/Nolans%20Intro.zip) is mentioned. What I’d like to know is: is Dogs of War the new Torn Stars/Unstable Space, and if not, there can I download it?
I just re-watched that Nolan’s intro video. That takes me back! It was such fun working on that. Hilarious (not that it meant to be…just…made me laugh looking at it is all). Too bad the higher def version seems to be lost. I recall it looking much better at the time we made it.
After making that video, and probably realizing it was terribly amateurish, we decided to go with a few written fiction vignettes to set up the Torn Stars game and setting. Those stories are still there as “Lore” on the Torn Stars website, written by yours truly. What fun!

I have heard about Nolan’s intro… but I have never been able to find it. It is not in the downloads section, and all of the old links are dead.

I just found a file on the old Epic: Middle States development website here.
It seems to be the Nolan intro as a mod, so we can run it inside of the game. I don’t know if it’s the same thing though, since the mod has been posted in 2003 and the intro movie is from 2004.
I will attach it here additionally. The intro rendered in 720p has been put up on Youtube here:
