So, I’ve been getting into this beautiful gem of a game again (So happy it’s on Steam now! :woohoo:), and I wanted to skip ahead of act 0 and most of act 1, since I recently played past those parts before I got the Steam version. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any instructions on how to use the save file I downloaded. Could someone please explain for me?

11. June 2015 at 2:01 #16928adminKeymasterJust put the .sav file into the “saves” folder inside the game.
If there is not saves folder, create one and put the file in there. π

Thank you, Sir, and thank you very much for restoring one of my favorite sites on the web! I must say it looks much more… modern, for lack of a better word.
However, this did not work at first, for some reason. I used “verify integrity of game cache” within Steam, and it downloaded most of the game’s files again. It turns out that many of them were missing!
So, I try it again, and it still doesn’t work. Was it supposed to go in the main game directory?

11. June 2015 at 2:37 #16931adminKeymasterNot exactly in the main directory, it goes into
C:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/Independence War 2 – Edge of Chaos/saves/

I probably should have specified, but I already tried that.
I guess there isn’t much hope of this method working. I recall there being a way to skip forward in the story using a setting in flux.ini. Do you know what it is?

11. June 2015 at 2:49 #16935adminKeymasterI just checked – some of the gamesaves aren’t named correctly.
Make sure to put it in the save folder and rename it to “savegame0.sav” – it loaded for me then. I got a save file called “savegame06.sav” which didn’t work without renaming.

It worked! Holy smokes! Thank you!
I wonder if Az and Lori missed me.

3. December 2017 at 17:37 #18759BlackChinxParticipantHello Guys,
I’ve got a GOG version, and saves folder is empty (but exists), whilst when I go to the load game section of the menu, I find my saves. Just not in the game folder. I tried the fix you just suggested, but it didn’t work out.
Where else does the game stores the .sav files ?
Can I use anything else to go to a specific mission?
Thanks !
