After I finish the battle and try to return to Mwari, the game crashes. Any ideas?
No Pity for the Corporations!
8. April 2016 at 5:02 #17657SvurkParticipantRecently started running the game on a Windows 10 system. The mission “Corporate Holdings” crashed over and over shortly after the freighters appeared. Scanned the forum for solutions.
First I changed the buffer settings in flux.ini to
use_w_buffer = 0
use_static_buffers = 1did not help…
I changed the EdgeOfChaos executable to Win98 compatibility for all users
did not help…
I disabled both sound units (apparently I have two for some reason)
NVIDIA High Definition Audio
and
VIA HD Audio (Win 10)then the game would not even start…
I enabled only the VIA HD Audio (Win 10) unit (Keeping NVIDIA High Definition Audio disabled)
This enabled me – on my particular system – to complete the mission “Corporate Holdings” without a crash.
Perhaps someone else might find this useful.8. April 2016 at 5:11 #17659IronDukeParticipantWhat I do is use Massacre mod on the enemies, then formate with the freighters to go out with them. If you destroy the enemies before the crash, then it won’t crash until after the freighters have jumped out. So jump out with them.
This has worked on my current computer, as well as 4 others.Also, welcome to the forum! o/ Mind the cobwebs…

Very little about the game is not known to me. Any questions you got, throw them at me. π11. April 2016 at 12:47 #176787upManParticipantIronDuke, what does the Massacre mod do? I didn’t find it in the mod list here on the site.
11. April 2016 at 20:16 #17681IronDukeParticipantYou’re right! :blink: It’s not on the site’s main download page. Turns out I got it from the Independent Trading Post: https://www.i-war2.com/oldmainpage/wetwired/ You’ll want to click on Tune Ups.
It kills all red ships within 50km with a single button press. :whistle:
However, they are not added to your kills list.–IronDuke

11. April 2016 at 20:36 #17686IronDukeParticipantYou have to defend a single disabled freighter carrying antimatter.
Warning: Big Spoilers!
It has no power for the AM containment field, so you have to supply power to it.
Multiple waves of a half-dozen or so cutters attack it. Seriously, everyone gets stuck on that mission.–IronDuke

Wow, that’s an atomic bomb from Fallout that must’ve survived! π
I will add the mod to the main downloads in a few seconds. Soup must’ve missed the mod back when he was running the website.
Edit: It’s up!

11. April 2016 at 21:57 #17690ChesskingParticipantBut… but… but… I had forgotten what the “Corporate Holdings” mission was. Upon checking the Docs–>Acts, it says Corporate Holdings is the mission where you have to clear some mines around an L-point, take on a few marauders, and escort some freighters out of the system. The one with the freighter carrying antimatter is called “antimatter cordon”. I have never experienced a crash with the second mission, but had some trouble with the first. I can’t remember exactly what it was though.
Antimatter Cordon was weird. I documented my troubles somewhere else. Without using the docs, I managed to win simply by destroying all of the marauders before the time was up. That’s not supposed to happen.
I have used this mod, but I had no remote fighter… so I hacked the mod and changed my own ship into the hellspawn. πΏ

Yeah, it was also missing in the downloads. Keep looking, maybe there’s more stuff that is buried so deep I missed it π
