For Easter, I colored an egg to look like Lucrecia’s base.

13. April 2015 at 8:11 #17321ChesskingParticipantI read recently that the part of the brain responsible for processing smells is close to the part of the brain responsible for emotion. That is probably why the “epic” feeling of Independence War is so closely tied to the shed and the smell of summer. Just today I went out and cleaned that shed up some, so that it is fit for playing in. Also, if I move my game out there, then I can install Torn Stars on my laptop for when I am travelling or in town.
P.S. I have started work on more mods, and have some finished I-War related projects that I need to take pictures of and upload. Please put some pressure on me to help me get them done!
P.P.S. I have still made little progress on my 2-D I-War programs, but I am still learning, and still exited about that project. I am going to aim for a demo version with many of the mechanics and some of the models for the finished games.

15. April 2015 at 4:46 #17325IronDukeParticipantAgree about the smell thing; my mom bought some laundry detergent once that instantly reminded me of playing I-War2 on my old dell laptop. That thing is now fifteen years old, and doesn’t work only because the hard drive died. The rest is fine. :O
Weird.

Very little about the game is not known to me. Any questions you got, throw them at me. 🙂21. April 2015 at 21:22 #17343ChesskingParticipantI’ve been wanting to make some config files to improve my game. My joystick isn’t very advanced, and did not have any roll capabilities. I added vertical thruster keybinds to my keyboard file, but haven’t refined everything yet. I want to completely disable the HUD, since I don’t use it anyways, and replace the keybinds with contact controls. For my joystick config, I want to replace the numpad keybinds with contact controls, and the arrow key keybinds with the engineering screen directly, or use the hat switch on the joystick for power distribution and the arrow keys for different screens. These are the engineering, objectives, log, and map screens. Anyways, that is a lot of work to do by hand. Then I realized something. Maybe that NeoGriever keybinder would be helpful! Of course! Time to check it out.

29. April 2015 at 0:18 #17375ChesskingParticipantI love the I-War 2 soundtrack. Sometimes I listen to it all day as I do school. My favorite song ever is Them A1. Christopher Mann did an excellent job. Even my sister likes it.

in FACT, I remember a long long time ago (I think I got it form this site… maybe not) I downloaded that lights and sounds patch that put like a very soft ambient radio chatter to the inside of your cockpit. I loved that, got a new hard drive and now I cant find it anymore.
EOC, time splitters 2, and echo the dolphin are atop my list

1. May 2015 at 8:45 #17422adminKeymasterThe I-War 2 music is on the artists SoundCloud here:
I really like that, too. 🙂

1. May 2015 at 21:30 #17425ChesskingParticipantWell, there is also this:
Independence War II Soundtrack
This is only missing the options menu music (although I only remember it playing while installing) the loading music, and the music behind the intro movie. I downloaded these before I realized that all the music is on the disc and in an mp3 format. While I’m at it, here’s this:
Independence War I & Defiance Soundtrack
And this:
Independence War I Soundtrack
Which is the same as the previous link except it doesn’t have the Defiance soundtrack.

9. May 2015 at 10:04 #17596ChesskingParticipantI just installed the nGlide wrapper for I-War 1: Deluxe. Wow. I didn’t know it could make such a difference! Larger screen, more detailed shots… I can actually see the paint job on enemy ships! However, it is a bit laggy, although that may be because of the VirtualBox graphics card. Also, the cursor’s movement seems enlarged, and I can’t do some things because of that.

23. June 2015 at 9:13 #18031ChesskingParticipantI finally finished playing through EOC today. However, I then read through Act 3 B in the docs, and it appears I missed some content in one mission. So I’ll replay that mission, and then install the free-form mode mod.

21. August 2015 at 4:24 #18158ChesskingParticipantI finally worked on some mods. Attached is my Player Base Mod. It replaces your base with whichever of the six stations you choose:
Hoffer’s Gap //good for flight practice
Haven Station //A neat alternative base
Broken Haven Station //For those who prefer the feel of a damaged base
Reactor //Remember this? This is where Cal gets the uranium rods for the base. A good hideout.
Biobomber //This is what Lucretia’s base looked like when it was new.
Piracy Base 2 //From multiplayer
Piracy Base 3 //From multiplayer
Prison //Awesome alternative to a biobomber.
Fortress //You get to destroy this station in the game. Those gatling guns look neat.

21. August 2015 at 15:52 #181627upManParticipantChessking, can you please post some screenshots of the respective bases? Also, is there an internal view, or just external?
21. August 2015 at 22:47 #18165ChesskingParticipantI’ll grab some screenshots later today. The bases don’t have new internal views, and docking doesn’t look right; All I did was swap .ini files and replace the dockports with those for Lucretia’s base. When I tried keeping the original dockports, I got the message “No compatible ports available”. I just looked at the different dockports, and I have an idea of how to make them universal.

22. August 2015 at 4:52 #18187ChesskingParticipantThe reason I was getting the error message was because that particular station had all the dockports commented out. Easy fix. All of the dockports work like they normally would now, except for the autoDock sequence initiated a short while after starting to dock. If this function could be disabled, it would make docking look a lot nicer. Since I no longer have to replace the dockports with the dockports for Lucretia’s base, it is faster to make these mods, so I added a few. I also added a screenshot for each one with the file, so you don’t have to cycle through them all in-game to find one you like. Here’s the updated list of stations:
AsteroidBase1a
BrokenHavenStation
CasinoBase
Damaged_SecStation //now this one is interesting. It appears the developers ran into a problem, and //then decided not to use the station in the final game. I included it for those of you who don’t mind //having a station in two pieces. 😛
Fortress //I should make a mission where marauders attack your base so you can see its gattling //cannons in action
HavenStation
HoffersGap //This one didn’t come with any dockports, so it uses Lucretia’s Base’s ports instead.
MiningStation
newBiobomber
OrbitalGarden
PiracyBase01
PiracyBase02
PiracyBase03
Prison
ReactorBase
ShipYardStationI may make a second package with other stations later, or you can make one yourself.
