30. January 2015 at 6:10 #17060adminKeymasterThe limit for posting data is 40MB (time-limited to 10 minutes of upload time) on this whole machine.
The reasons for this are security-related: If I increase it to a Gigabyte I also have to increase the limits for all the PHP scripts that are running here. People could easily attack the machine with large requests and bring it down.
Whatever you try to upload here – if it’s bigger than 40 megabytes you can split it into 40MB parts with 7zip or maybe better – upload it to Dropbox. I can fetch it from there and transfer it here via FTP. 🙂

Feel free to upload those to http://www.torn-stars.com as well. There is a section in the Downloads for EoC mods. I believe members can upload.

7. February 2015 at 12:05 #17080adminKeymasterThank you, Chessking! 🙂
I am very busy at the moment. I will start putting these in the Download section very soon.

10. February 2015 at 23:14 #17095ChesskingParticipantI had an idea that I think would work best with Torn Stars. I think it would be interesting if you could buy paint schemes in the game. This would be really expensive because of all of that paint and wouldn’t help the player any (unless it affects the threat rating of the hull), but the wealthier merchants and pirates might use it.

11. February 2015 at 17:43 #17098cambragolParticipantActually, Unstable Space has the ‘machinery’ to implement that right now. It would just take a bit of coding for an interface, then some actual photoshop work to create ‘alternate paint jobs’ for all, or a subset of, pilotable ships.
The coding would be a snap. The photoshopping and ini file setup would take some time.
I kind-of did this for cargo pods. At least, they are not customizable, but their ‘colours’ give the player a clue as to the value of the contents. A little detail I wonder whether anyone ever noticed.

11. February 2015 at 21:21 #17112ChesskingParticipantThere are a few paint jobs done already: you could use my paint schemes from the Retro Ships Pack mod. Rusty (the storm petrel) isn’t exactly a paint scheme, but perhaps it could be a ship that can be bought for less than an ordinary storm petrel, and perhaps it only has one working hardpoint. The Makwa interceptor (storm petrel) could be used in place of Rusty.

12. February 2015 at 3:51 #17131ChesskingParticipantMy mods aren’t supposed to have the version numbers; that is something that Google sites added whenever I added or changed the description.

13. February 2015 at 14:47 #17138cambragolParticipant‘Older’ second hand ships could be implemented with your ‘Rusty’ graphics quite easily.
You would just need to make new ini’s, and setup files for each ship, then add them into the list of ships for sale. About 1 hour of work.

13. February 2015 at 21:54 #17145ChesskingParticipantWow. That’s not much. Might take me longer though since I am not familiar with the setup and file location of Torn Stars. I would also have to reinstall Torn Stars first, which I am getting to.

31. March 2015 at 22:06 #17266ChesskingParticipantI remember when I first started playing Independence War 2, I had a ton of fun and viewed the game as a legend. That has changed since, and I have been trying to recreate that feeling. I think I have figured it out. I started the game on our XP in one of our sheds, in the summer, with a joystick. I have since moved the game to my laptop, and don’t use the joystick anymore. The volume is often low, so the soundtrack doesn’t influence the game as much. Well, it’s spring again, (I’ve been playing the game for almost a year, and I just beat Dante’s Inferno), and I hope to move my game back to the XP and have some real fun with the game again. One other thing that may influence my experience with the game is that at first, there were only about two ships that I could handle at a time, and now I can take on mega-transporters without much hassle.
