This forum is being attacked like crazy – the thousands of backlinks to this website lure a lot of bots here. Without any countermeasures I have to delete spam posts and users every day.

Therefore I’ve implemented a bunch of checks on registration.

Users IP’s and mail addresses are being checked against various antispam databases (e.g. stopforumspam and others) and new registrants have to enter a captcha now.

I also had to disable public comments for now, until the developer of the comments component has integrated ReCaptcha.

This seems to have stopped down the spam to 0%. If you have any problems registering or accessing the website, let me know:

Thank you. While I didn’t notice any of the spam (for some reason, Chrome can’t remember to stay logged in, and I’m too lazy to search for the password, so I just passively lurk around), I remember the old I-War forum as well as the Torn Stars forum being overrun. Therefore, I always welcome any measures that try to reign in that pest.
