So What Is “Torn Stars” Anyway?

I know, silly question. I read the Press Releases and outlines but still don’t know what “Torn Stars” is. (Please bear with me since I’m coming back to EoC after a three-year absence so everything after EoC is new to me). I just downloaded “Torn Stars” and have to install it.

Is TS a mod, an expansion, a continuation, or a whole new story? Are the Projects mods to TS? What new features are in TS over EoC? Are there quests and missions, or more like Freeroam (I never did try Freeroam either since I upgraded my PC at that time and took EoC off).

I guess the main question I have in TS is…what do I do in TS besides play somemore? 😀
