L-point travel

Please help. I just got the game but am unable to initiate L-point travel. How do you activate the L-drive or what ever it is?

I’ve tried the method of starmap-location-zoom in-jump destination-fire/enter–fly into L-point. NOTHING happens. I fly through looking a complete idiot when a patcom flies out of the L-point, straightup my tail pipes.

PLEASE HELP!

Is it me or does this visor make me look stupid?!
